Thanksgiving

ok, I know im totally behind on my blog!! Im barely getting around to posting pictures of Thanksgiving, but when you have twins and you don't have time to get on the computer EVER cause they are always right by my side, you get behind!!! VERY behind. So we spent Thanksgiving this year in Vegas with my sisters family. We had a blast. It was freezing and so CROWDED! We will probably NEVER do that again until the kids are older. It was almost impossible to push a double stroller up and down the strip and it's not like people move for you or anything. So here are some fun pictures from our trip.

Ashton turns 7!!

So this year for Ashton's birthday, we let him invite 8 friends to a little "get together" at the park. Of course that day it was freezing. I can't believe how fast he is growing up! He turned 7 this year! He loves school, he loves life and is such a great kid! Im so proud of him and all he has accomplished! I love this kid!

Kevin and I took the kids to the Aquarium in Long Beach. We had the best time. Ashton loves that he can touch some of the animals, but this was the twins first time and they had a blast. We will definately have to go back. The experience actually turned out to be a really fun family day.

Ashton is a first grader!! I can't believe it. He was so excited to start school this year. I know he missed his friends and playing. He was really happy to see them again. His teacher is Mrs. Patterson. She is really cute! Have a fun year pudge!

Family Reunion

So im a little late posting, but in the beginning of July we had the Merrill Family Reunion. The kids had such a fun time, especially Ashton. Here are a few pics from our fun trip!

My sweet pea twin boys turned one. Of course we had a swim party and the day ended up being so hot! Everybody had a great time, and I was so glad when it was over. It was alot of work!

The kids and I spent easter or spring break in Texas visiting my sister, it was a fun trip!

Finally, after 8 months Ive decided it's time to update my blog. I swear, I don't know how people can find the time to do this and be a mom. It has taken me this long to adjust. So much has happened in our family, I will let the pictures do most of the talkin. Those these last months have been tough, especially on me, we have had some really fun times. Our kids are growing up fast and we just love them to pieces. I can't promise anything, but I seriously hope and will try my best to keep this updated.

These past few months, Ashton has been losing teeth like crazy.

He completed kindergarten, and met lots of new friends. Here is Heather, they love playing with each other and she is darling.

The twins, learned to sit up and play with toys. They usually want the same one!

Ashton played his first year of t-ball, and the twins just loved missing nap time to be there!

Here is my rookie yankee, being an Angel fan, I was not happy about him being a yankee, but he did great and really enjoyed it!

Family Update

I know it's been months since ive updated my blog. I know you all understand how busy I am with twins. Finally, I have found some time to update my blog. Since my last post, Kaden had a minor surgery, Christmas came and went. The twins are now eating "big boy" food and we spent a week in Utah after Christmas. Life continues to be busy and I hope I can find time to update more often. The twins are growing and changing fast.

We decided to go with a small tree this year. We were leaving the day after Christmas for Utah and did not want to have to clean up a huge tree. Ashton decorated it this year all by himself.

I can't believe my little Ashton started kindergarden. Where has 5 1/2 years gone? He was so excited to see his teacher and meet new friends. When I hugged him on the playground and told him to have a good day, I tried to hold back the tears. It was a happy sad emotion. He is loving it and I think is more excited that he gets to go everyday. With less than 4 hours of sleep a night and getting up at least 4 times before 5:30 a.m. I am trying to be excited for him. I have only been doing this 1 week and it's killing me. Here's to a fun field year!

Ashton finally got his cast off after 4 weeks. He was so excited. Just in time for school and soccer. I have to tell you, the nurse asked me to wash off his arm, I thought I was gonna throw up. His arm and hand stunk so bad. The first thing he did with it off... go swimming. So glad that's over.

My little guys are getting bigger and stronger. I can't believe how fast they are growing. It seems just like yesterday I brought them home. We just introduced them to tummy time. It is so cute to see them pick up their heads. Here are some updated photos of them.

Ashton's Broken Wrist

Two weeks ago Ashton fell off the back wall and broke his wrist. I was at the gym and when I got home Kevin came running out to tell me that when they were playing soccer in the back, he got up on the wall to get the ball, lost his balance and fell. Kevin said, it happened so quick that he could not react fast enough to catch him. We thought the summer was over, until......Kevin's sister told us about this arm cover that we could buy so that he would still be able to swim, shower and go to the beach. This thing was expensive, but it has totally saved us and Ashton's summer. Talk about my stressful life....

Introducing Kaden and Gavin

I know it's been over a month since the twins were born, but come on. Can you imagin the lack of sleep Im getting with two babies? They were born on May 29th via c-section because Gavin turned breech the last minute. I was not happy about that. Then after spending an hour in recovery and seeing both of them for less than a minute Kevin informs me that for "precaution" they were taking them to the NCIU, which by the way was at another hospital. So to add to my pain of the c-section also add tears because I never got to hold them and I only saw them for less than a minute. I was released from the hospital that Sunday and went straight to the NCIU. Kaden came home that Tuesday and Gavin came home that Wednesday. They are both doing great and gaining lots of weight. I will update with recent pics soon I hope. Oh yeah, Kaden is older by one minute.

Family Fun

So now that im playing a waiting game on these twins, here are a few things we have done the past few weeks. Me going to get a pedicure. Ashton deciding he wants one because he dosen't believe it really tickles. Then, me and Ashton at a muffins for moms fun day at his preschool. And last Kevin and Ashton redoing the landscaping in the back yard because Kevin has decided he wants a garden. Maybe the next pictures you will see are of the twins, especially if I have it my way. It is supposed to be this week! Fingers crossed!!

Easter Week....

Brought many exciting things to our family. On Sunday, Ashton got to do a Easter egg hunt at my parents house. He loved finding the eggs, then hiding them for Dad to find. Next on that very same day, Ashton surprised us all and pulled his first loose tooth. Not only were Kevin and I shocked, but he didn't even cry. Then on Monday when Kevin got home from work Ashton wanted to ride his bike. Not his new one, his old one with no training wheels. He learned how to ride a two wheel bike all by himself. We are so very proud of him. He just keeps learning and growing.

We finally planned a fun family activity this week. We dyed easter eggs. Ashton loves doing this. He actually did most of them, but Kevin showed him how to do it. He is really into Star Wars the Clone Wars and I was able to find a dye kit. So here is what he did.

Fire Station Field Trip

Wednesday at school, Ashton's class was able to take a field trip to the fire station. I braved it out and walked with them. It was really neat. They got to tour the whole station, see where they sleep, eat, exersice, and even got to see the pole. Ashton absolutely loved it. What a fun day!

On Friday, Ashton had his last bike a thon at school. He absolutely loves it. I thought last year's was better because they actually got to sit on a police motorcycle and take a picture. This year they only got to stand in front of a police car and take a picture. I guess the only thing that matters is that he had fun. Here are some cute pictures.

Our Water Heater ruined Valentine's Day!

The Friday night before Valentine's Day I was doing laundry and noticed a huge water spill in the garage, little did I know it was coming from our water heater. I went in the house to get Kevin and he confirmed that indeed our water heater was leaking and we would need a new one. So guess what we did on Valentine's Day? (We) I mean Kevin and Ashton put in a new water heater. Here are also a few photos of Ashton doing his Valentine cards. This year his teacher asked that the class write everybody's name on the cards. It took him two days, but he loved it.

My sister Megan told me about this fun workshop at Lowes. Each month they build something different. In January (yeah, im late) they built a time capsule. Ashton absolutely loves it. He gets to use a hammer, nails and stickers. It is his time alone each month with Kevin. Here are a few pics of his fun time.

So this year, we spent Thanksgiving in Utah. We were able to stay there a whole week. The wheather was perfect, no snow, sunny, but cold. We were able to do lots of fun thing while we were up there.

On Saturday Ashton celebrated his 5th Birthday Party at the park. He had lots of friends come to share it with him. They played, ate, frosted cupcakes, opened gifts and did a pinata. Yesterday was his actual birthday. We ate dinner at his favorite place (Subway) and then Kevin took him to a movie for special dad time. Mom like always was feeling under the weather. Hope you had two great days Ashton. We sure love you!

Yeah, Im a few days late, but with all the nausea Ive been feeling these days being late is okay. So Halloween came and went. I wish for just one year it actually felt like Halloween with the wheather, but we had yet another hot day. It was fun, we went to "trunk or treat" at church and then went up and down a few streets with my neighbor Jessica. By the time we finished, Ashton was hot and done. He was tired!

Great News....

So today we found out some really great news. Last Monday a blood test revealed that I am pregnant!!! Today an ultrasound revealed that Im expecting TWINS!! We are so excited and when Ashton saw the picture, he said "they are eyes", and I said "no, they are two babies" and he said "wow, that's totally awsome, Im gonna have two babies" and I said, "yes, are you excited" and he said, "I can't believe it, let's call dad". Yesterday at chruch he was telling people that I was pregnant with 1000. (That is what my blood levels came back at) So needless to say we are so excited. This is going to be a whole new journey for us!

So the other day I was in the living room watching TV with the door open. I knew Ashton was in the front playing, but I did not know what he was playing. All of the sudden I started to hear this noise, I seriously thought Ashton was throwing rocks at the house, little did I know when I went out there that he was practicing to be the next Tiger Woods, with Dad's real expensive golf clubs. Not to mention, in his soccer clothes. Crazy kid!

Goal!!! Ashton scored his first goal yesterday at his soccer game. Of course I don't have a picture to post with it, but I had to let everybody know. He is on cloud nine and it was so cute to watch him throw up his hands after he scored. We are so proud of him.

So last week (yep, Im late again) at Ashton's preschool they had Grandparents Day. They get to come and do music time with them and then they get to do a special activity. Ashton always loves it as he gets to show grandma his classroom and his friends. He also gets to show off all the fun stuff he does. Thanks for a fun day Grandma.

Nasty LA County Fair!

So this year again we sucked it up and went to the dirty, nasty fair. I hate it!! There is gross peopole, it's dirty and their is smoke everywhere. But we at least wanted to let Ashton see the animals and of course Kevin had to have his chocolate milk. Ashton loved it! We let him play some of the games on the way out and he actually won a stuffed animal. The next day he took it into Target when we went shopping and he lost it in the store. (Darn it, it was dirty anyway.) I told him somebody stole it, im such a bad mom!

I have got to be the worst mom ever. I am almost a week late posting this. I swear it's the meds, they have been kicking my butt this week. So yes, Kevin and I are the coaches of this cute little Hot Rod team. As you can see, there are six boys. I can't even believe how hard it is to coach at this age. The kids are everywhere and don't listen very well. This is a great way for me to learn more patience. We won our first game 4-3.

Merrill Family Update

What a tough week this has been. Many of my friends don't know that for the past 4 years we have been trying to get pregnant. In the past 2 years I have had 4 surgeries and seen 2 specialists. We have finally decided to do Invetro. For the past two weeks I have had to take alot of medication and also do injections. This will continue for the next 3 weeks. This past Sunday my sweet family including all of Kevin's siblings and their families fasted for us. This has been very tough on me so far, but I have faith and am praying in the end it will all work out. As we go forward, we will continue to post.

Here is all the medication I will be taking.

My dear friend Jessica comes over every night to give me the injections. Kevin can't do it or he will pass out.

Ashton's First Day of Preschool

Yeah, so I know Im a day late, but Ive had alot of things to do this week. So anyhow, Ashton started Preschool yesterday. It's funny how a year can change things. Last year when I dropped him off at school, I cried. This year when I dropped him off, I was like yea, grocery shopping by myself (you know things get done faster when you don't have kids with you). He is very excited to be in Ms. Sherri's class. I really think he is excited to in his words not be "board", as if we didn't swim all summer. But woo hoo, school started.

Friday Night Dinner

Friday night we went to dinner with our friends Ken and Kristy. We went to this Japanese restaraunt where they cook in front of you. I think it was the first time Ashton has ever been to one. So we ordered some tempura rolls before dinner. The funniest thing, Ashton picks up some chop sticks, breaks them up and tries to eat the roll with them. Mission failed, he could not do it, but it was the funniest thing.

So on Wednesday, (yep a little late posting) Ashton started soccer. This is his first year. Kevin and I decided to coach him. We are called the Hot Rods. We have 6 little 5 year olds. Well Im not sure if it is lame to do two posts in one day, but oh well. So last Thrusday, my sister Megan and my nephew's Luke and Owen left to go back home to Texas. They spent the whole summer here in Cali and it was so much fun. Of course the last day they were here we had to do something fun! Our Utah Trip

So this last week we went to Utah. My In laws are down sizing into a condo and wanted the family to have one last party at their big house. Here are some fun things we did. You won't see me in many pictures, that's because some of the things they did just weren't for me.

I love when we all are able to get together. We have so much fun together and Ashton loves to see his cousins that live in other states. What a great week long party. We sure love our Merrill family.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today was my Dad's Birthday. He turned the BIG 59! My siblings and my mom all went down to his work and we suprised him for a Birthday lunch. Then tonight we had dinner together and ate bananna splits for dessert. Happy Birthday Dad! Hope you had a fun day. We all love you!

Wow, Am I ever glad this week is over. It sure has been tough. Ashton has only been good when he has been....

Since Sunday he has been hungary, tired, board and mean. He is waking up 3 times a night crying his throat hurts, eats a otter pop (thank gosh for those) and goes back to sleep. He only like sleeping on the couch, which means I sleep on the floor. I can't wait to get a good nights sleep. No INTEREPTIONS! Thanks Ken, Kristy and my mom and sisters on Tuesday for the wendy's frosty and Golden Spoon which cheered him up for an hour before going back to his unhappy self.

But who knows how long that will last. Im keeping my fingers crossed for a better week and sleep.

First Surgery for Ashton Today

Today Ashton got his Tonsils out. Boy am I glad it's done. He didn't really freak out until we went back and he saw the bed. I tried to be tough, but I broke down crying. The anesthesiologist took him out of my hands and we had to leave. It was so hard, but now we are home and he is on the road to recovery. Any ideas of activities we can do for the next 14 days?

Monday Night FHE Activity

We just had a family vacation to San Diego. Kevin's parents and sister came down for a fun filled week. We went to Sea World, The Zoo and my favorite...A baseball game.
